    PNoy SONA 2014Today, July 28, 2014, Monday, President Benigno Aquino III a.k.a PNoy, delivered his fifth SONA (State of the Nation Address).

    In case you missed the live coverage of SONA 2014 by PNoy, I am posting a replay video here in this blog entry, as well as the original transcript in Filipino (Tagalog) and in English.

     

    I’m glad I got the chance to go online today to post this. For some reason, our PLDT DSL got cut off even before Typhoon Glenda was in the country and PLDT hasn’t restored it up to now. So here I am, on sick leave from work and recovering from bad cough at home, and using mobile data from Sun Cellular, whose connection is not bad.

    Today, July 22, 2013, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address at Batasan Complex in Quezon City.

    As it happens, broadcasting stations will have special coverage and would let us watch the event via live stream videos. I’m going to embed some videos so we can watch SONA 2013 live.

    For the past two years, I worked from home as web developer for a foreign company. And now, I am having office-based employment for the first time. I already did office-based work before for 7 months, but that was only internship, not yet employment.

    After some time and effort, I received some job offers from companies in various places – Makati, Ortigas, and Quezon City. I wanted to avoid Makati, dreading the wearisome commute that I already experienced during internship, but the offer I accepted is actually from the company at Makati. The position they offered me is what I think would best help build me up for my career goals, and so I decided to just overlook the difficulty in commute. After all, difficulty is part of life. 🙂

    In one sentence, if you ask me how I feel about my transaction with them, I’d say “I’m glad it’s over. Phew.”

    I felt that they don’t value their relationship with customers. Shipping was delayed (later than what’s written in Delivery Policy), wrong item was sent, and they made me wait at a JRS branch that’s a bit far from my house for nothing.

  • Green passport renewal at new DFA office – requirements, fees, location map near Mall of Asia

    The real goal of this blog entry is to share my personal experience with green passport renewal at DFA while giving my readers some idea of what to expect as they go through the process. But since I feel too exhausted to provide complete details at the moment, I will write about my most notable experiences for now and update with the rest of the information later. 🙂

    Early this morning (January 27, 2012) we went to DFA to have my green passport renewed into what we call ePassport or biometric passport. It was a tiring day, only BECAUSE we went to Mall of Asia afterwards to shop for numerous things we need… at 10AM! 😉 We had many things to shop for and so took advantage of the time since we were granted the day off from work and were right there, near a huge mall. The passport renewal application was done nearly 8:38 AM. So, more or less one and a half hour. My appointment was at 7:30AM, by the way. 🙂 (more…)

  • NSO Birth Certificate – experience, requirements, and payment for online request / application for delivery service (Philippines)

    An acquaintance applied for a National Statistics Office (NSO) Birth Certificate delivery service online at their website, and I just wanna share on this blog entry how it went.

    Before anything else, this is not an official NSO website, and that everything that is written here is based on someone’s experience as he applied for an NSO birth certificate. So, your own experience with the online application for NSO birth certificate delivery service may or may not be different from what is written here. 🙂

    NSO Birth Certificate Delivery Service Requirements

    • Online (live chat) or phone call application
    • Birth certificate information and other personal information of the birth certificate’s owner (click to jump to info needed)
    • Payment for NSO birth certificate after acquiring a reference number
    • Valid ID with picture for receiving the birth certificate on the day it’s delivered to you

    Cost / Fee / Amount of Payment for NSO Birth Certificate Delivery Service

    So, how much does the NSO birth certificate delivery service cost? 330 pesos is charged for each copy of an NSO birth certificate. This already includes delivery charge. Please note that processing is 2 – 3 working days after payment. So it is best to pay soon after getting the reference number.

    Now I’ll talk about the experience with NSO’s delivery service. It might give people curious about the process/sytem some idea how it goes.

    There are two options: Call 737-1111 or do a live chat with a Customer Care Officer. If you prefer typing over speaking to an NSO representative, I suggest you for the live chat.
