In July 2013, I began learning about developing apps that run in Facebook. For a web developer especially one who works in a marketing agency, learning about Facebook app development is important nowadays because numerous amounts of campaigns are ran on Facebook.
At first Facebook app development confused me, but after some exposure to it and some help from colleagues who have been doing it for years, I got the feel of it.

Today, July 22, 2013, President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will deliver his fourth State of the Nation Address at Batasan Complex in Quezon City.
As it happens, broadcasting stations will have special coverage and would let us watch the event via live stream videos. I’m going to embed some videos so we can watch SONA 2013 live.
Later, I shall post replay videos, photos, and transcripts of SONA 2013 by President Aquino.

For the past two years, I worked from home as web developer for a foreign company. And now, I am having office-based employment for the first time. I already did office-based work before for 7 months, but that was only internship, not yet employment.
After some time and effort, I received some job offers from companies in various places – Makati, Ortigas, and Quezon City. I wanted to avoid Makati, dreading the wearisome commute that I already experienced during internship, but the offer I accepted is actually from the company at Makati. The position they offered me is what I think would best help build me up for my career goals, and so I decided to just overlook the difficulty in commute. After all, difficulty is part of life. 🙂

I went to job screenings before without preparation except studying for the expected programming exams. Because of this I screwed up in an interview with a company that I really wanted to be a part of. There’s no time for regrets though and I need to keep moving forward. 🙂 I don’t know why, but I didn’t prepare for the interviews and wasn’t able to answer the final (3rd) interviewer properly.
Web development/programming is what I do, so I’m going to list down some tips, in no particular order, to prepare for your job-hunting and increase the chance of getting hired:

Web developers need to work on their website locally once in a while. I use XAMPP in my computer to work on my web projects locally.
I’m about to begin working on a project which sends emails when users register for an account. From the live site, I downloaded it to my computer so I could do updates. I tested the registration form and it failed because email could not be sent. I would usually use phpmailer, but that’s a bit time-consuming to configure, so I wondered if my colleague who worked on it before used a simpler solution. Lucky me, she did find a simpler way to test the emails sent/received on her computer during development.

In one sentence, if you ask me how I feel about my transaction with them, I’d say “I’m glad it’s over. Phew.”
I felt that they don’t value their relationship with customers. Shipping was delayed (later than what’s written in Delivery Policy), wrong item was sent, and they made me wait at a JRS branch that’s a bit far from my house for nothing.
